This Blog entry is for my trip to London in 2007, before heading on to Barcelona, Spain. I was here for 5 days and you can see my hundreds of photos under photo albums. :) Here's what I saw and when:
London Day 1: Photos from the neighbourhood I was staying at, called Earls Court as well as a small trip out to Greenwich, including a photo of me with a foot in each hemisphere (East/West).
London Day 2: Major Sightseeing day number 1, using a whole-day pass on the double-decker hop-on-hop-off tour busses. I started at Piccadilly Circus, then on past Trafalgar Square, stopped at the Australian war memorial, then onto another bus to see the British Museum, past Trafalgar Square again then on to the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and West Minster Abbey. After that, back on the bus, past the London Eye, up to St Paul's Cathedral (beautiful views!), back on the bus, over London Bridge, Past Tower of London, to Covent Garden, and finally a Thames River cruise that night, with all sights along the river, including going under London Bridge.
London Day 3: Major Sightseeing day number 2. The day started early back at Piccadilly circus, then I walked down Regent St, past the visitor centre and on past The Mall, through part of St James's Park, to the 2002 Bali Memorial, back past the back of Downing St and to the Treasury. Down Whitehall St to see Downing St from the front and then back to the Treasury to see the Horse Guards Parade. After that, I walked up The Mall to Buckingham Palace for the Changing of the Guards (plenty of videos!). Then caught the Tube to St Pauls station to start the London Walks tour: Shakespeare's & Dickens's London. After than, I went to see the Tower of London, including Traitor's Gate, Crown Jewels, etc. Then walked along the Thames with views of London Bridge, then on to the London Eye, with views of all around London, including next door County Hall.
London Day 4: This day had me visiting John, a friend at Imperial College. What a view from the office! Then on to see the nearby architecture, including the massive Royal Albert Hall and some ultra-skinny buildings. Then on to the Science Museum, Natural History Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum. Then a tube ride to the Dominion Theatre and nearby Soho Square where I had dinner while waiting for the show: We Will Rock You.
London Day 5: I had half a day of sightseeing left, so I got up and went out to see Victoria Palace and Westminster (catholic) Cathedral. All before rushing back and getting my gear and heading to Heathrow.
