17 June 2018
Victor, Idaho.
We packed the last its and pieces into the RV and closed the slide sides in and hitched it up to the truck. (Jef and I had installed the hitch point into the Ram Truck the day before.
We set off towards the campgounds in Victor, Idaho, - our home for the next two nights.
On arrival about 1.30pm, we did everything in reverse and unpacked the RV
After that was done, we got our hiking gear in order, and jumped back in the truck to head towards the Tetons national park and Jackson hole (the famous ski resort).
The Tetons are a range of mountains formed by a geological fault and earthquake, millions of years ago. they are back in Wyoming and sited to the south of Yellowstone
The drive there took us over the mountain pass between Idaho and Wyoming, which was a 1:10 gradient.
As we were nearing the top of the climb, the weather started to change dramatically as the outside temperature plunged from the mid teens centigrade to just above freezing.
Hail started to cascade out the sky and mixed with the rain on the road to create a flow of hail down the mountainside road we were on.
It also started to accumulate on the windscreen of the truck and the wipers just mashed it down, not clearing it.
Eventually jeff had to pull over and clear it by hand, as he could not see out at all.
After that excitement, the rest of the drive to the area we were going to was quite calm.
We started at a lake area, called Jenny Lake, and then moved on to Jackson , an old cowboy town.
We had a look around the shops and then ate some lunch at a barbeque restaurant.
Then it was off for more touring, looking for Moose!
We followed a road called the Moose/Wilson highway (appropriate) which was surrounded on either side by wet marshy grassland that Moose like apparently, and there were signs up saying to watch out for them.
Well we did for 10 or so miles, but nothing!
So after we had traverese this road it was getting on a bit so we headed home, via the dreaded pass from earlier.
However, this time there was no issue, save a little low lying cloud and fog and we got back to the RV.
We were going back to the Teatons park in the morning, with plans to ride the cable car up the mountain at Jackson Hole and then go for a boat tour on Jackson lake.
