Heeellllooo everyone. Im sure nobody looks at this anymore, its been just a 'wee' while since I last updated it. Sorry I know thats lazy, but I just got a bit fed up with the slow internet in Asia. I did sit in Laos for 1 1/2 hours uploading photos, to find that it crashed at the end, and didnt work. I decided that I would wait after that point and update it whilst in Oz. Well sooo much hs happened since I last updated this. I wont bore you all with all of the details.
Since my last post, in Vietnam, I visited Mui Ne, just for a couple of nights. We had an afternoon in a jeep, to see the sand dunes and slide down them. Its hard work to get back to the top, good work for the leg muscles. As soon as you tread in the sand, you sink to your knees, so its hard to get anywhere! It was a strange afternoon. Some local kids took us for a stroll through a stream, and then we had to pay at the end to have out flipflops back - clever kids ha ha. The evenings as always were alcohol fuelled. Its sooo cheap, its hard to say no. One night, we asked for the bill, which consisted of: - 72 bottles of beer, 3 vodka and cokes, 2 mojito cocktails and food for 8 people and the grand total was 36quid - no joke! We then moved on for happy hour vodkas and free jager bombs.... another late night!
I never did get any beach time at Mui Ne, the weather wasnt good enough, bummer
After Mui Ne, we hit Saigon (Ho Chi Minh). I liked Saigon, alot more than Hanoi, I wasnt a big fan of Hanoi. It was time to be cultured, so we went to the War Museum, which was very graphic and sad, it was hard to get your head around what the Americans did to the Vietnamese. I went to the Cu Chi tunnels, to see the tunnels made by the Vietnamese, where they hid whilst the Americans were attacking them. I hope no one suffered claustrophobia. You could go through the tunnels and they were tiny in places and very dark.
After Saigon, I decided it was time to split from everyone and head to Phu Quoc. I was desperate for a few chilled out days onthe beach. But after sad goodbyes with Alice, it wasnt meant to be. It was torrential downpours, nothing to do and I was stranded at my accommodation, as I was up a flooded dirt track. There was no one around, I read a whole book in 1 day. Sothe next morning, when the weather didnt look as though it would improve, I headed back to Saigon to then head to Cambodia. I thought everyone had left already for Cambodia, but as soon as I arrived, I bumped into everyone again, so I had a mad dash to try and get a seat on their bus to Cambodia.
