Today I was very tired from the pub crawl and the time change! I was slow getting out of bed and planned to go to Notting Hill but instead wandered back to Trafalger Square. I heard it was the Queen's birthday but missed the parade. I also knew there was going to be a fly by over the Buckingham Palace so I headed that way to catch a glimpse. I kept walking and got to the red paved mall to the Palace and just followed a group of people who looked like they knew where they were going. As we got closer many people were behind low gates to help contain the crowds but I just kept on walking away and winding in and out of people. Eventually I got 3 people behind the gates!! They were opened and the police officers guarded the entrance. After some waiting, lone behold , her majesty steps out on the balcony followed by Will and Kate and everyone else! So surreal to see in person! And Kate is even prettier in person ;) . They all stood on the balcony for all of 5 or 10 minutes and went about their day again.
It took a while to escape the crowds but I went to Oxford St to meet up with Brian and his son Andrew, who have both been to Macheo before. I got some great tips and a little better idea of what things would be like.
After that I had to try England's Indian food...I don't think I stopped at the best place but it was pretty good! Then I packed my bags since I was to leave the next day and went to a pub with some hostel friends to watch England play in the World Cup.
The next morning I left to go to Kenya...a long day of traveling and an overnight flight to Nairobi.
