Bula! I am now only 2 days away from leaving Fiji!!! The last week has been pretty busy as usual starting with my Fijian family moving house on Friday to what can only be described as very rural and far away from everything and everyone. On the up-side, it is a bigger house and both children have their own massive double bed in their own room although they dont use it yet (and I still have my broken bed with a sponge on top!). There are even 2 bathrooms so the mornings are a lot easier and the shower isn't either boiling hot or freezing cold :)
I first saw the house after leaving my school on Friday and getting on a bus. My host father had drawn me a map, which, at the time he drew it, had made sense to me. However, the bus driver took a different route and after 40 minutes of looking out for a very small bridge (that actually is just the road over a small ditch!!!), I asked the driver and within minutes the whole bus was trying to help! I was also told that the road went downhill to the house and after the second steep incline, I called my host family and the bus driver also spoke to them. The local shop named RK & RK, my only point of reference in the Votualevu area, now goes by the name of Superfoods, which no-one thought to point out to me!! The bus driver stopped in front of a bus going the opposite direction and for no obvious reason the whole bus load got off our bus and got on that one (which I followed) and we then WENT BACK THE SAME WAY!! I was completely puzzled. finally i got a taxi and after showing him the address and map, he drove around for 5 minutes and then told me he has no idea where i live.... It took 2 hours to make a half an hour trip!
The family managed to unpack 2 truck loads in about 3 hours and by the time i got there it looked pretty much lived in!
New volunteers have just arrived so im heading out to lunch now... sorry this is so short but i will update it asap
love to everyone xox
