Neat website - So, is it true that in the southern hemisphere water in a whirlpool travels counterclockwise? I was told (or possibly read) that when you flush the toilet or pull the plug on the dishwater, the water goes down the drain in a counterclockwise whirlpool south of the equator. I need to know if this is true or if I am the butt of some cruel hoax that has twisted my somewhat impeccable reputation. (You see - I have passed this story on to others who either believed me or were humoring me).
