Ahhh, finally vacation
Emma and I set out 23rd, for an 11 hour flight to Bangkok, Thailand. Didn't sleep at all on the flight, but saw 4 movies instead. Cried like a baby to Sex and the city, absolutely loved it!!!
First we arrived in Kuala Lumpur and spent 3 hours of over tired laughter there-loads of fun.
Started thinking of Pink Caravan as we saw a PINK floormopp,hehe...even thought about taking it
After 5, went on the airport train...(didn't get off the first time)...woops, we finally boarded the next flight, for our final destination- Bangkok.
Another flight, no sleep, that's vacation, right!?
At the airport we had a fancy pickup waiting for us, which was probably very lucky since we were a bit tired....1 hour taxi and we arrived at our fancy hotel...almost felt rediculous, since we are used to travel in very spartan ways together...Decided to get busy right away, or fall asleep, so we booked our tigertemple trip w a visit at the bridge over the river kwai, aso, even fixed the visas we need for cambodja, AND vent to Khoe San rd. At lunch we sat down at a lokal restaurant, ate and started wondering why there were so many policemen outside...The owner of the restaurant told us that is was because the prince was going to drive by-so we waited...When he finally came, they closed off his entire route, people on the street was not even able to stand or sitt on the pavement...one guy had to stop his phonecall, and walk away too. As the Prince drove by, the policemen didn't face the street, but the pavement, just to see that no one came or took something out or moved at all...they even looked very suspiciously at us... a bit scary...We sat VERY still!!!
In total there was 22 following cars and 10 motorcycles and the prince, with his wife of course-cool!
It got to be a very early night-go figure..
25th, went on a tour, were very lucky, 'cos there were only two other people on it. Started with going to a cemetery, for all the Pow's (prisoners of war) that built The Death road (the railway from Thailand to Burma) and died. It was very sad to see all the stones, especially the ones where it said the soldier was 20 or 21-such a waste!
Then we went to a little museum to see how the Pow's lived-would't recommend sleeping on bambu like they had to.
Took a little longboat to the bridge over the river kwai, of course it's not the original, since that was bombed...but atleast we saw it.
Took a little trainride to our lunch spot, which was very nice. So many locals and such cute old ladies!
NOW< off to the tigers, Emma and I paid extra, so we could get extra pictures...felt a bit so so, 'cos the tigers felt pretty stoned...After the big tigers, we did get to see the cubs which was much nicer...I can tell you that most of the memorycard got filled up there
Back in Bangkok, we were just going to walk through the Queen's factory which was filled with jewels and OF COURSE I had to buy something...sorry mum, but I'm now the proud owner of another ring, with an emerald-s*** happens!
26th Time to change hotel, sunbathed a bit by the pool first, packed our backpacks and started walking to our new hotel in chinatown...people tried to get us on tuk tuks and so on...appherently as a woman, they don't think it normal to walk that far w luggage-strong scandinavian women
When we finally found the hotel, we realised it was another fancy one-too bad, hehe...Had lunch there, very fancy restaurant and paid 5euros in total...
Went up to the skybar and had a drink under the setting sun and really enjoyed ourselves!
Then down to the chinatown market to buy some pencils for the children in cambodja.
After that a taxi to PatPong market and Emma started glowing when she finally got to bargain stuff, I kept very quiet for once
Got offered everything on the PatPong menu, pingpong show, pussyshow you name it...but we were not very interested in that...
After a few hours of barganing and a compleet dinner for 3euros for 2 people, we went back to the hotel to get some sleep, and boy did we sleep, good thing we set the alarm, or we would have missed breakfast!
27th Took Tuk-Tuk for 0.3 euros to the Grand Palace to see the emerald Buddah, thought we needed to do atleast some real turistic sightseeing, (for our parents to see when we come home). I was wearing kneelenght shorts, but shorts was appherently not allowed in the palace area...Emma had a kneelenght skirt which was fine-rather strange...But atleast I got to borrow a skirt free of charge to go in...Even men was not allowed to wear shorts, not even the really long ones. Atleast some things are fair.
After a quick lunch, eating fantastic thaifood on the steps outside a bank we now sitt here and write the first part of our journey. Time to go back to the hotel, relax on the roof terrace, and tonight meet up with the group we're going to travel with to Ho Chi Minh city...We are crossing our fingers for a group with only single, gorgeous men-so we'll probably get all ugly women
