Today was just a reasonably quiet day.
I spent the a couple of hours this morning just doing a couple of things on the computer but after that I headed out in to a light drizzle to go to Arthur's seat, which is a large cliff face that looks down over the city. It was still raining a bit when I got there. I saw a path leading up to the top when I first got there that looked quite steep but I couldn't see any other paths so I dedcided to just go up that one, even though it looked considerably off road. Despite it looking slightly dangerous and slippery, I did it anyway. It was easy up until about half way up, but at that point it got steeper and slipperier so I had to grab on to these little bushes so I could pull myself on to the next muddy foot hold without slipping all the way back down to the bottom. I took the last about 15m very carefully, but when I was about 5m away from the top I saw a couple just casually walking along a perfectly comfortable normal path, and this is when I realised that there was a perfeclty easy normal walking path about 100m around from where I started. So I got to the top with this couple giving me weird looks and my hands all muddy, but I made it. As soon as I got up there it stopped raining as well and the cloud cleared quite quickly so it was actually a really nice view. To get back down I just went down the normal path and then had a walk around to the front of it and then back towards the shops.
I wandered the some shops looking for some decent shoes for the bus tour for the bus tour for a while, but I didn't find any that seemed worth paying for three days of use. So it looks like My feet are going to get very over the next three days.
Then at night, I just went out to a couple of pubs and had a talk to a couple of people behind the bar, the guy was Australian and the girl was from New Zealand. There was hardly anyone there and they had the black keys playing through their ipod so that was really cool. Then this other guy came and played live accoustic guitar and sang old 70s / 80s covers.
