Today was a very big day. Firstly I went to a choir chorus competition that Arisa was performing in. It was an inner school thing and it was a competition between all the different classes of her year level. They all had to sing the same song first and they could sing another song of their choice. Arisa's class was really good, and the group of boys they had introducing their songs were really funny. They had one quite funny dopey looking kid and four hyper active kids, and the hyper active kids were running and jumping around the dopey kid. They pulled out like a paper mache poke ball and threw it at the dopey kid and he did this really funny jump forward as if he was coming of the poke ball, it was really good. But her class actually all sang really well. Unfortunately they didn't win but they were genuinely the best I saw.
After that I went in to Machida to do some last minute shopping before I left. Because Eriko the whole time I've been here has been telling me that she needs a new eraser, I went to a stationary shop and bought one of every type of eraser they had, and I think when I give them to her I'll dramatically pour them out of the bag. I think there is about 12 different erasers.
But later in Machida I went to meet Eriko and her friends at Machida station and they helped me chose a couple of things which was nice of them. We then met up with a couple more of Eriko's firends and we had a quality group of 8; Shiomi, Eri, Keiko, Julia, Airi, Aki, Eriko and Me. They're all really nice people and I had heaps of fun with them and I'm going to miss them all.
First we went to an Izakaya bar where you pay for entry and then after that all your food gets laid on and it's all you can drink. I wish we had that kind of system in Australia, but I think it would get abused too much to work. We all got quite tipsy and were perfectly primed for, wait for it, ALL NIGHT KARAOKE!!
First we went to buy more booze to sneak in to the karaoke joint, but then from 11pm until 5am we were all singing at a screen in a big room, and boy was it awesome. For my first few songs, I looked up a person from groups name and then sang that song, I got through everyone except for Airi because she had to leave just before I was going to do it for her. There some pretty good ones but Eriko's is still my favourite. By the end everyone was falling asleep and then waking up to sing their song and then going back to sleep.
On our way home, the sun was rising and was completely up by the time we got back. I've never stayed up all night while I've been out before so it was really cool. It was a really nice night and I really want to thank everyone who came and everyone else who I've met and had fun with in Japan. Thanks for making my stay here so enjoyable.
