Today was a big day.
I woke up at 9 to go to Universal studios with Emily and CJ. We ended leaving at about 10:30 but once we were going to get tickets, Emily found out that she needed her student ID to activate her annual pass or something like that, so we had to drive back and get it.
The next time when we went we would have got there at about 12 but before going in we grabbed an extremely overpriced lunch but it was nice enough. Then we finally hit the park.
The first ride we did was probably the best one of the whole day. It was reasonably recently built and it had this feature that let you choose the music to do the ride to, then it would play through the speakers on your chair. I had "Born to be Wild" going for it. It was quite a fun roller coaster though, not the best one I've done but it was pretty good.
Then we did heaps of other rides in the first park, the highlights being the Simpsons ride and the Mummy ride probably. We also did this thing that was like a fake movie studio thing where you were meant to get involved in the filming of this movie. Of course CJ tried to volunteer me to do it, but when he did the lady just told him to get up there for trying to make me do it. That was pretty funny. He ended getting bagged heaps by the woman who was running it and in his scene the fake rocks fell on his head and knocked his hard hat off. I enjoyed that ... karma.
Then we went across to the other park where we did the hulk, which was really fun, a giant drop stlye ride, and the new harry potter ride which was really cool. I had a butter beer from hogsmeade as well. They'd built a miniature hogwartz and hogmeade there.
I bought a sword for Nick at a weapon kind of shop from a really nice Irish lady that owned a pet dingo.
Then the park closed at 6, even though we'd been told that it was going to be open until 7. So we just went to the restaurant area just outside the park and had dinner. Then we went down to the billabong shop on that strip and I absolutely stared and oggled at this one long board they had for about $160 which is generally heaps cheaper than what you'd pay in Australia for something of the same quality. I really wanted to buy it and I probably would have, but I thought it might be a bit difficult taking it on the plane because I might have to pay for the extra seperate luggage or something and I might find a better board in Hawaii anyway. So I didn't end up buying it.
After that we drove back to the apartment and I gave Nick the sword that I got him. He lit up like a 4 year old with a full stocking at Christmas time when he opened the box. We sent him a text hinting that we'd got him a sword by putting phrases in like "yeah we'll be back sharp and early, we picked up something with some really cutting edge technology" and stuff like that.
Then we all went out for Pizza and really spicy chicken wings which were really nice. CJ put heaps of the spicy sauce on a bit of plain cheese pizza and his eyes literally watered up so much he was actually full crying.
Then we all came back to the apartment and chilled. It was really cool staying here though and meeting all of Nick's friends. But I am moving on to Hawaii leaving very early tomorrow morning, so it's hard to be too sad about that.
