Marty's Adventures
I slept over 10 hours and I think I have successfully avoided jet lag. Breakfast with the little man Nolan and then we got ready and headed out to the park. We had a great time playing on the park. Nolan has decided I am not that bad to have around and we had a lot of fun. We found a sign in the park for what we thought was a flea market or bazaar type thing for later in the day so we figured we would go find it later. We went to a huge department store much like a Macy's and had an amazing lunch. We got some more groceries. Sarah ticked off the butcher when she asked for less meat than she had originally asked for, but after Sarah was nice to her even in her cranky state she turned around and was nice again. I think so far my impression is that German people have a rough/serious exterior and once you get past that they are very nice. We then found a SIM card for my iPad!! We even got it all set up while Nolan had a nap with out any techie people present! We were very proud! We headed back out to find the flea market....it turned out to be one tiny table with a few home made jams and ornaments along with a few second had things. We all kind of looked at each other and laughed, not what we were expecting. We followed the sign to the cafe which was in a tiny room in a wee little daycare. Awkward....but we went in and paid .50 Euro for a coffee and 1 Euro for a piece of stuck stole (yummy cake). We the made our way back to the church and school across the street from the flat where there was a small market and a few music demonstrations of the students in the school. We listened to a quartet as well as a young cellist and guitarist. The Church is beautiful and had the most amazing steeple! We did not go in the church but perhaps tomorrow. We returned to the flat and had dinner. After dinner a friend from a flat in the same building, Moritz came to play games and he brought some amazing cookies he baked himself. Traditional German cookies. Sarah and I may of eaten many many cookies and then I proceeded to get beat badly at Dutch Blitz! Although it is only 130 in the afternoon back home I am ready to sleep....another day of exploring planned for tomorrow!
