Marty's Adventures
My last day in Auckland I found a ferry to a place called Devonport...the ferry ride was great and gave me an awesome view of Auckland. I spent the morning exploring the shops and the area with a beautiful walk along the ocean. I made my way back across on the ferry early afternoon. I was booked into a place called the Jucy hotel, a hotel like hostel owned by the same company that owned the campa I had rented. I had my own room...however....the building was extremely old and creaky! The doors all slammed and groaned and whined when opened....you could hear everything in the building and outside then building....needless to say I did not sleep much on the Friday night. I decided to move to a hotel near the airport Saturday evening, a good nights sleep was needed with all the flying about to begin! Found a great hotel for a decent price and got some sleep. Up at 4am and off to the airport.....they say right on the ticket to be there 3 hours in advance so I was.....was checked in....through Customs and Security in 25 mins.....I think I was one of 10 people who actually went 3 hours early! The flight from Auckland to Sydney went well, no napping even though! Had to go through customs in Australia get my luggage and check in with a different airline....was worried they were going to take some of the stuff I had bought, like Manuka Honey.....but it survived customs! Flight from Aucklad to Shanghai was uneventful, had a nice mad originally from California who moved to Tasmania 25 years ago for a job as an Oceanographer and we had some great chats about Australia.....the environment.....and life....made the time go by nicely! Arrived in Shaghai...thought I would see this massive city flying in but didn't see anything! Customs and luggage carousel time was fun....I like my personal space and my calves and shins but I just had to accept that I was going to be touched....squished....smacked my luggage carts....and just carry on with waiting in line! Had a hotel booked near the airport , all went well and room was small but perfect....fell into bed after a 22 hour day!
