We survived Death Valley! We had a big drive yesterday, leaving Sequoia and having to drive around the Sierra Nevadas to the Eastern side, where the desert country begins. There were fewer and fewer cars the further we got and the land become more and more barren. At points there were Joshua Trees, which are pretty weird plants!
We camped the night in Furnace Creek in Death Valley, it was pretty warm even though it is winter, but there was a bit of rain last night! While we were setting up camp we saw a roadrunner! We woke to sun and wind and set off for Golden Canyon, a trail that leads through a canyon with amazing rock formations and information on the geology, along with sides that you can climb up, which we did a bit of. We then drove along one of the old wagon trails they used for mining borax and then up to Dante's Point, a look out where you can see the Badlands salt lake below, the lowest point in the US and in the distant, Mt Whitney, the highest point. It was a breathtaking view! We then headed through more desert landscape to arrive at Vegas!!
