Brilliant news, we didn't melt in the night. Our hosts at Billabong Bamboo Backpackers took pity on us and juggled around some things so that we could move beds. We had a fan on us in the night, a fan! It was glorious.
Waking refreshed and energised I was quickly regretting waking up. Chelsea had a bite on her bum that had become infected and she demanded that I squeeze it and rub lotion on it. The whole experience made me quake and her forceful tone and aggressive manner upset me terribly.
When I was finally allowed to leave the prison that was the shared bathroom we saw a poor soul who was bent over and pale with food poisoning. Taking pity on him I brought him a fresh toilet roll, mouth wash and a bottle of water - my good deed for the day.
Another of our hostel patriots, the elderly Bev and her husband, seemed to be having an equally bad day. Her husband had slipped on some coral whilst on a boat tour and required stitches. They didn't have enough cash to pay for the procedure so they had to leave their passports at the hospital to ensure that they returned to pay, to top things off their card had decided to stop working so they were in a bit of a bind. We may offer them our aid later if they fail to sort the situation out themselves.
As the rain has decided to plague us as usual, Chelsea decided to go diving yet again! Leaving me to flounder on the mainland while she went off galavanting. By all accounts she's a natural and is bloody loving it.
In the afternoon we went to Las Cabanas Beach for sunset, a 10 minute tricycle ride away. The beach is very nice and I happily lead down on the soft sand while Chelsea pottered about up and down the beach taking various photographs. The sun set was lovely as it sank behind the pillars of limestone that defended the beach.
When we got back I talked her through my Vietnam research - it all sounds very interesting and adventurous. I'll be glad to be away from this constant moisture; I'm beginning to feel like I am growing gills!
We are determined to find a 'cheap' place for dinner tonight though, having looked at the poor man with food poisoning this morning, I'm not sure it's worth the risk.
