Hi everyone!!!
Well here I am in Singapore! All that planning and now I am here! I left Toowoomba with Mum at about 7.30am yesterday morning. After a quick good bye to Nan we headed down the range. After arriving at the airport (a couple of hours early), we decided some shopping was in order, so we went back to Toombul shopping centre. After some shopping and a HUGE piece of apple pie, we headed back to the airport to start booking in. My baggage weighed 19.9kg! Anyone would think that I had planned it that way! I then hugged Mum good bye and headed down the escalator. I was rather sad by this point, and would have done anything to have my Mummy with me! So I got through the customs bit ok, they didn't even question my heavy hand luggage, and walked into the duty free shopping area. As I put my passport back away, my waist belt zip broke off, so I quickly bought another waist belt in the duty free area, then headed to my gate. The plane took off at 3.
On the plane, I didn't have too much time to feel sorry for myself. I got up and went for a bit of a walk, and started chatting to another girl. She is called Melody too! And is a first time traveller all by herself. So we swapped phone numbers and I am off to meet her soon to check out Chinatown, the Colonial District, Little India and Arab Street today. But I'm getting ahead of myself!
I arrived here in Singapore at about 8pm last night. However, by the time we walked to the other end of the airport (I would say 1 - 1.5km) it was about nine. It is the hugest airport I've ever seen! Ok, so not that I'm well travelled or have seen many airports, but I'm sure you know what I mean! It was so long where we had to walk that they had escalator type belts except they were flat to help people move along!
We then shared a taxi to our accommodation, which are both fairly close, and I booked in to Sleepy Sam's Bed and Breakfast. I am in a dorm with 5 other girls, but I haven't really met them yet. As I said earlier, I am about to head off and meet Mel for a day of sightseeing. I will write in later and hopefully add some photos to the next entry.
Hope you are all having a great time!
Love always,
Melody
