Mums turn! We have driven through some beautiful countryside, from rainforest and coast to grasslands and swamps, across the great divide. We arrived at Hann river in the afternoon yesterday - 31degrees and quite muggy. We had the chance to set up the tent for the first time ( the previous night we planned to stay at the Lions Den but the camp site owner was not very hospitable, so we drove on to cooktown and stayed at the big 4 in a cabin. It was getting too late to look for anything else!)
Hann River was beautiful. We were camped on a high river bank so we were relatively safe from crocs. Dad got water using the bucket on the rope trick! The kids got to try fishing but all we caught were snags! After dark I tried to spot some crocs and nearly stepped on a snake. The stars are amazing at night!
Today we are heading to Weipa, about 500 k's of dirt road and corrugations with the occasional sealed section.
