It was so niice catching up with Ida, my friend from back home, she lives in Surfers Paradise, or close by, 10 minutes by bus from what they call downtown Surfers, the first thing I did when I arrived (btw Saturday 14/5) was to do my laundry, I had build up quiet a stack of dirty clothing, it was becoming really bad, but I don’t think anyone noticed at the surf camp, thx God for the bonfire! Sunday was Ida’s birthday, turning 25, oh-so-big – but it was such a lovely day, I got introduced to her friends, a funny bunch, Nikoline, Melanie, Nick, Robbert and whatever-her-his-name-was, all 13 friends dinning at Vipiano, Ida got a birthday cake with candlelight, presents and we all ate some gooood Italian food, good choice, baby!
My first impression of Surfers Paradise, it’s totally a mini copy of Miami, with all the tall buildings and the long beach, and of course there is all the big icons from states like Hard Rock café, Ripley’s Believe or Not. Very Americanized. But what aren’t these days. Oh well. I meet the Icons of Surfers Paradise, the “meter maids”, these tall blond girls wearing gold mini-short-outfits; they were so sweet, asking all kind of questions, eventually I gave in, and I bought a calendar with these hot chicks, got it sign and all, this was my very first Aussie souvenir (btw. the calendar was raising money for breast cancer!)
Status quo: I have been in Surfers for 4 days now. I totally like it.
Today Ida and I went to DREAMWORLD, we actually spent last night, googling and youtubing which park was best to go too, cuz there are so many, gosh! But DREAMWORLD was defiantly the best choice; we had so much fun, I GOT TO TOUCH A KANGAROO AND A SNAKE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE, whoop, whoop!
