Singapore is muc like i thought it would be: very clean, organised & new. It's an easy city to get around being so cosmopolitan and with English being pretty much the first language. Although it doesn't offer much in the way of heritage or old culture, it does have an interesting mix of cultures and areas. Spent 3 quite relaxed days in the city winding down from the tour. Did a lot of walking covering Chinatown, Clarke Quay, Arab St, Esplanade, day trip to Sentosa Island & everywhere in between! Clarke Quay was great for nightlife & my favourite area was the Arab St quarter as was great for relaxing in afternoons in cafe's & for evenings in shisha bars which was how we spent our last night, smoking strawberry flavour sheesha in Blue Jazz, yumm!
Although it's a pleasant enough city i'm not too sad to be leaving as it just doesnt feel very Asian after the exciting foreigness of everywhere else i've been! Really looking forward to arriving in New Zealand now although i definately want to come back and explore more of SE Asia, there's so much i'll miss...
Great food, friendly locals, that exciting foreign feel, the hawker stalls, Chang Beer, tuk tuks, moto's, crazy cheap prices, lovely heat, longtail boats on beautiful beaches, 7/11's, learning basics of various Asian langauages and feeling proud being able to say Hello & Thank you, squat toilets (OK maybe not the squat toilets...)
