katie's not in san francisco anymore
so here's what i got from barcelona:
everyone has mullets.. his and hers matching mullets, baby mullets, old mullets, mullets, mullets, mullets.
everyone wears white linen. everyone...
man capris are HOT (and in white linen) hahaha not cute.
there was a man that screamed outside our hostel "policia! policia! policia!" every morning sometime between 4AM and 6AM.
sun-bathing topless in Spain is AWESOME
1,50€ shots do the trick
walking is annoying.. TAKE the metro
Spain couldn't possibly try any harder to capitalize on Gaudi.
now on Rome:
good god! so we decided to take a ferry from Barcelona to Rome. when we got on the "boat" we went straight to the top deck. the 2 other girls in our room were from reno and gardenerville, so we bonded over out northern cali roots and decided to sunbathe where we ended up meeting 6 Americans all around the age of 22. we called them over and decided early on that we were going to karaoke at night. (drinks were €2 so why not) we ended up having some cocktails and getting our groove on to some 70's tunes. hahaha always a good time. in the AM we all 8 of us got together for breakfast, etc. then we ended up taking the train together to rome where we parted our ways. very cool people! sad to see them leave.
so we got to rome where we took directions from our hostel/hotel. AWFUL directions AWFUL. so we ended up in some italian ghetto. when we got to the place the lady was a complete and utter b****. she tried charging us twice for something and the place was really low lit and pretty dodgey (i'm acquiring australian termonology). so after being completely exhausted from our 30 min lost hike around the ghetto i was not willing to settle for anything less than atleast 1/2 decent so we peaced out. we found a hotel down the block with good lighting and a man that speaks better english and was going out of his way to help us. he definitely saved rome from getting a bad rap. so now we're getting some dinner at the place next to us where they serve pretty cheap and things look good! it's so nice coming to rome where i can actually eat the food. no more tapas! all i want is a burrito and a hot dog. the ketchup here is dirty... and we all know how i LOVE my ketchup. also i fell in LOVE with Nutella. love you all and miss you dearly!
