Mothers that lost their children in the 1970's when around 30,000 people went 'missing' march around the plaza every Thursday afternoon once to highlight what had happened but now to highlight the importance of trying those responsible for the 'missing' people. However, not everyone agrees with this or believes it happened hence the black mark over the symbol for the shawls the mothers wore.
