Hi!
Today I am feeling a lot better, although I have a cough that seems to be pretty bad, my teacher reccommended getting "supremin" some Polish cough syrup that will apparently cure any type of cough, haha we'll see. It looks like it was made 50 years ago, came in a glass bottle, and is verrrrrry sweet!
In Polish class today we learned another "case"... grammar which is hard to understand because there isn't much to compare it to in English! We have learned four so far, and there are 7. The one we learned today is used wherever we would say "of" so for example, a box of crayons. Instead of saying of, they will change the ending of the word crayon! But what you change the ending to is different if the word is masculine, feminine, or neuter, if its an adjective or a noun, and its different if the word is masculine and was something that was once alive, like a chicken. UGH! Also for some reason masculine fruit and vegetables have a different ending. So much to remember! We will continue with this class through Friday, then start actual classes next week.
My teacher printed a list of shoe sizes and what they are in America for me so I could go get some shoes... which I did today. While food is very cheap in Poland, it appears clothes and shoes are about the same as in the U.S.
Oh another "exciting" thing that happened today... all of the lights in our flat were out. Luckily I could shower in Jacqi's bathroom, because the bathrooms have no windows so it would have been impossible to use mine. And some little janitor man just came and fixed them, thank God!
Tonight my friend Vito, who is from Rome, is going to make dinner for Jacqi and I. Pasta and salmon yummmmmmmmm yum! or as they say in Polish "miem miem" Vito likes to joke around a lot, but he is trying to learn English and today he said "unfortunately I need you because the best way to learn is to talk to someone who has it has their first language."
it is supposed to get colder this week! I hope not... it has been a lot warmer than I know it is in Chicago.
Well I need to go work on my online class homework or maybe take a nap, but we are still having a lot of fun and meeting people from all over the place and its really awesome! hopefully my cough goes away soon.......
