Starting with wine and nibbles at Villa Maria, more wine at the airport along with a few drops of tears, I spent my final hours in NZ with some of my favourite people while trying to call and txt the rest on my phone.
My travel buddy, Emmo (yes, another Emily) was hanging out with her family saying their goodbyes. She had to pull me from my attempt to do a 3rd round of goodbye hugs to go through customs to board our metal bird across the ditch to Sydney!
Gutted to find out we were seated separately but alas one behind the other with a family from Denmark, myself beside Mum and daughter, Em beside Dad and son.
They had a giggle that we were both called Emily, from NZ and off to do the same job in Europe. Papa Denmark, who i might add, was quite the silver fox, then suggested he sits by his wife and I sit back with Em and his son who seemed happy to sit with us rather than the family.... Specially when we shared our lollies with him.
Nice to sit, breathe and read cards from some lovely friends. A short flight so a yarn, meal and music occupied our time before quick stop in Sydney where we hoped off, went through security to get back on the plane again. Same seats, Denmark family, dinner #2 plus cheese, crackers and wine before some obligatory Topdeck study of Italy before taking a sneaky sleeping pill which blessed us with pretty much a solid 6 hour sleep! Whoop. Gold. Woke in time to see on screen that we were crossing the equator and nibbled our m&ms! (Mandatory snack for em and em).
Dubai only a couple of hours from reach and our lovely young friend beside us, Denmark jnr. starts to vomit into the isle... Ew. We were trying desperately not to breathe, this occurred several times for the remainder of the trip. Poor lad/poor us.
Early hours of a clear Dubai morning we make our smooth descent into the Middle East!
