Wahoo - Koh Pangan and the fully moon party!
Ok we got safely to the party central of thailand. Our friends from oz were meeting us at the full moon party and we could just relax in our bungalow with a couple of drinks for a night.
Wrong! it is somewhat hard to relax when in the back room room lives a freaking snake! Honeslty i expected much more creepy crawlies in oz. So i was in the shower when i saw this reedy brown and cream striped wire hanging down from the roof. I got out and went to find paul. BEcuase althoug i was trying to convince myeslft it was a wire it had the very definate look of either the end of a sanke and a spider leg ( a really big spider) PAul comes in and the "wire" moved. Over the course of our stay it surrepticously appeared and disappeared into the roof. Turned out if you dared to put you head against the wall and under the tail!! you could make out a rather larger snake than the tail suggested. LEGEND!
Not to worry it wasn't a spider so i decided to let it be and just checked around the bathroom every time i entered.
Right onto the full moon party - in order to save moeny like true travellers we had some drinks beofre we set out and then headed across the island to the beach party. We hop[ped into an already crammed taxi of people where paul had to hold onto my waist to keep me in, a random thai woman grabbed at my arm at every corner incase i tumbled out and the srunken dude in front of me screamed out of apparent excitement a tthe journey!
The full moon party was def worth the deadly drive over! As soon as we arrived we bought a bucket - massively cheap drinks and pretty much as the lable s syas - it was a bucket with a straw- it was filled with an entire small bottle of vodka and redbull and coke or shark and coke. Pretty sweet! OFcourse i was all about the food but this point knowing my limits for drinking. A pizza square and chicken thing on a stick later and paul and i were dancing away on the beach - avoiding the bpys pissing in the sea and the occasional drunks swimming in water no deeper than a bandy glass. The bars along the beach were preety cool although if i never again here rave music it will be too soon. We kept our eyes pealed for our oz friends trina and ian who we'd spent three nights on fraser island with. But to no avail. We'd given up and were chilling in chairs in the surf (bucket in hand ofcourse.) When three blue smurfs went past, they were very funny, waving and screaching at everone. The stopped near our table and pauls shouts 'thats ian!' i was adamant that ian was not one of the smurfs as he had waved at us oblivous and started to walk off. Pauls started yeeling ian and smurf number one spins round with a big grin on his face as soon as he recognises us. Infact it is ian - somewaht blue-er and wearing the smallest pair of white hotpants i have ever seen.
So we joined the smurfs and headed up the beach to find trina. Pretty awesome - various fire dancers and entertainers along the way.
Pretty awsome night alough thank god we made it home before the sun came up beause by ians acconts it got messy. HE sent his girlfirend home and wnet drunken water ski-ing! I am glad paul did not spot the water skis beofre we left - it would have been carnage!
RIght so thats about it for Phangan - we headed to our boat for Koh Tao. And this is my worst experience ever. The so called hour and a half boat trip tunred into 3 hours of torture. The gears on the boat went so we were crawling through the massive waves. PEople were puking left right and centre even paul fell victim. I doped up on sea sick plls and still spent the entire ride eyes tightly shut holding on to my sick bag for dear like.
(just so you know we are currenlty awaiting the boat back to the mainland and i could not be dreaining it more!!!)
FInally we made it to Koh Tao! where its been pretty uneventful, we've chilled out along the beach, walked the sweaty hot length of the shops and met up with our oz friends again. No spiders, no snakes, just recovered from the evil boat journey. Thats all to report for now - we only have four days left in thailand so we're back to bangkok tonight!
squeak soon - oh my god i cant believe my blog is up to date (not including photos but at least the story is all there!) bye for now x
