Hi there campers! Ok so we arrived safely in New Zealand on the 2nd at stupid o'clock in the morning! I tell you now people thank god we posted back stuff before we left fiji because they are so strict at customs it's crazy! Anyway like i said it was the middle of the night so we jjumped into a shuttle (like a mini coach with luggage carrier on wheels) and cruised off towards the city! The hostel was pretty cool so we just got into bed and caught some much needed z's.
LEt me tell you about my trainers - in fiji they were detroyed so water logged ifrom the sea and just basically reaked! So i'd chucked them before we set off - already off to a legend start spent money i did not want to spend on new trainers - this by the w ay was totally necessary as my feet we so blistered and s*** from the other trainers i was walking like i had bloody stumps for feet. Please take a moment to picture this people it was not at all pretty - paul clearly loved it - i could not have looked more 'special'.
Anyway we met up with my friend Leah from uni in Auckland - she was a fab tour guide - took us to some bars, a Brit pub for tea, the musuem and a volcano! New zealand it covered in active and dormant ones in case any one didn't know. So i have been learning the percentage chances of surviving an eruption! It doesn't look too good depending on which volcano (in AUckland alone there are 63) AHHHHHH
Right so we booked a magic bus trip from Auckland to Christchurch which is what i'm in the middle of at the minute! It is amazing i'll start posting pics asap.
We set off at god knows what time on the morning on Friday with a load of strangers1 Staright to a place called rotorua AMAZING! thie place actually smells like rotten eggs becuase of the sulphur from all the geo thermal stuff but it looks gorgeous. We went past this angora rabbit shearing place - i'll let the photos tell the story all i needs to say if fluffy, and hilarious. Anyway first we did some black water rafting - wet suits on (we looked the bomb) we set off 100 metre below the ground to submegre ourselves in what i can only describe as the blackest and coldest water in the world! (hence the name ey?) So glow worms above us, eels alongside us and spiders and cave wetas galore we embarked upon an adventure of lelaping off waterfalls in the dark, floating along in blow up tyres and feeling our whale four an hour toward daylight. (weta's by the way aresome creepy mix between crickets, spidersd sna d cockroaches they are gross)
By the end of this we'd gotten to know just about everyone on the coach as we'd all been clinging together there was no other option. Anyway in particular we made friends with this guys from England called Chris (so funny he has me close to wetting myself with laughter) and Julia who is lovely!
On the way to the hostel we had a quick trip to a swing bridge - for all of you that know paul! The warning said no jumping swinging etc on the bridge (its massivley high up over water) so you guessed it paul and Chris jumped until that swing bridge swung - alot!
Right so next thing we arrived at our hostel dumped the bags and jumped into the spa - so toasty hot it was just what the doctor ordered! Not much else interesting to say about that oh no wait - this dude gets into the hot tub and i am not joking he was out of a comedy sketch - he's about 50 and knew every place in england - the city varieties theatre even1 Anyway he then tells us about a ghost he saw when he was a lad - and how his father had seen the same ghost - brilliant. 2 mins later this german woman gets in the hot tub and he's like oh from germany ey? well do you know this bar in hamburg near the bus station? and one time he saw a man in the bar who looked like his dead father so he went up to the guy and was like 'excuse me you look like my dead father' i mean what the hell was the guy suppoed to say back? oh right sorry about that? freak!!! but very amusing
So next day we went white water rafting on a grade 5 + which is the most dangerous you c an do legally (there was a grade 6 water fall futher down but 22 people have died on it so you're not allowed) and one of the water falls was 7m which my boat (not pauls the b******) went over on - like 5 secs -felt like forever - i was under the water freaking out - couldn't remeber waht the instructor had said to do for long enough, very scary. So popped back up and clung to my paddle. I was supposed to s wim to the boat!! The guide from my boat lost his helmet down the river so we climbed back in and sped off in search - no look though poor Chonk!
That afternoon Julia, Chris, Paul and I went luging! Hilarious, I swear i am going to get a luge when i get home and just race it down the white alley! yeah man!!!!
We left rotorua and headed towatd tuapo! checking out a local geyser (which has gone off every day at 10.30am from hundreds of years) the pics are pretty cool.
Taupo is preety cool but there wasn't alot of time to do anything - there was ofcourse time for a Tandem Skydive for Paul. Ive done one so was having none of it which made me the photographer for everyone - brilliant! Paul jumped at 15,000ft so he got like a whole minute freefall - pretty amazing! pretty sure he loved it!
Right so finally last nigth i was getting all flu like symptoms has a bug coming on for ages so here's what happened. Went out with everyone for tea - had a meal couple of drinks wnet back to hostel to crash, paul and some of the others stayed out a few hours more and from what i gather things got pretty messy - i'm talking people puking! random cowboy hats - think i wasd lucky coz the photos they are bad!!!
Thats all for now - we've arrived in wellington ill post more as soon as i can!!! jo xx (i would say and paul but he has wnadered off somewhere to look at Chris sheep gutting photos! - gross
