Hey guys
well we arrived in Sydney - we were so pleased to see the sunshine that even though we'd been up since 3am new zealand time - we raced out to see the city sights! The hostel was ok (i'll talk about the creepy crawleys in a bit) and we were right next to the botanic gardens - totally lucky! so we went for a stroll - turns out there are a lot of big bats in the garden - i was some what petrified that one would fly down and bite me and give me rabies - but luckily they didn't seem interested in people! So we went over to Sydney harbour to check out the opera house and the bridge - the city is gorgeous people - again cant put pics on yet but will soon i promise!! So we walked all the way round the harbour until we fond this street artist doing a contortionist show - very ierd - plus it lasted about 2 mins and there was really very little to the show - and get this the woman wanted everyone watching to pay a min DONATION!! of $10 - um i don't think people get the word donation over here - also she had the cheek to say if you could only give silver - not to bother! cheeky mare - so we decided to pay nothing ! hah!!
Anyway back to the hostel and much to pauls horror i fell asleep as like five in the afternoon and woke up and 10 the next morning - he was not impressed! poor paul - i really had tried to stay awake but the travelling and the early morning had finally gotten to me!
Right so the next day we has a saunter up to chintown to check out the travel options for the rest of the trip - sadly unlike new zealand there is no magic bus over here - there is either oz experience or greyhound! -we have decided to opt for the oz epxerience as i had visions of jumping off of the greyhound in the middle of nowhere and getting completley lost! right carrying on with Sydney. We wnet up the skytower to check out the panoramic view of the city - it was pretty 'sweet'.
Later that nigth we met up with Dobby for some drinks - this is the last person on he trip who i know from home - so lets hope i don't get home sick from this point ey? Drinks were good - although a little pricey but we were good with the budgetting so that ok i guess! Anyway got back to the hostel and promtly fell alseep - was quite horrified in the nigth when i went to the loo to find some git has puked all over the seat and floor - grim, very grim! So back to bed and was woek up at about 6am by some beetley-cricket thing crawling over my arm - lets just say paul got woekn up by my screams as i tried to dislocate my own arm in an attempt to remove the offending bug! Two mins later and a 'scusting cockroach appeared on the wall - i killed that and then sat rocking like a crazy person. So as we were checking out of there that day- thank god we headed promplty up to base in the busier part of syney - this is where we were getting picked up the next day for oz so it made sense.
We had a bit of a ride on the monorail and by chance came across the chinese gardnes- no lie these were the most beautiul garens ever- we had pics - you will see them eventually i promise! We even got dressed up in all the ancient ming dynasty style clothes and had a wander round! we looked amazing - could not have been more touristy without wacking out a giant 'joey style' walk in map and putting on a union jack hat we were legends!!!
Right so that's about it for Sydney next stop - surf camp!!!!!!
