Milly and Katie's travel Journal!
After surving the floods of Katherine (and its population of local outback people!) i am now safely in Melbourne. It is absolutly FREEEZING, well about 15 degrees at the moment, iv got on so many layers and still cold. It is such a shock to go from 33 degrees to 13!!
I had a good time in the Northern Territory; despite the fact i was constantly surrounded by screaming children and mad aussies! Managed to get down to darwin for a couple of days which felt more like a town than a capital city. Visited tons of aboriginal art galleries and museums so have had my culture fix for the time being!! contemplated buying a Digeredoo but then there was the small matter of how i would get it home! Also saw sweetheart the crocodile who is apparently very famous for chewing on outboard motors- but iv never heard of her! Melbourne feels extremely civilised after the outback... one place we went to for a picnic prided itself on its chemical toilet dumping facility!
Katherine itself was rather a dump but the gorge was stunning, unfortunatly because of the flooding i wasnt ablt to go on a power boat down it or go for a swim in one of the hot springs beacuse of the danger of crocodiles!!
On easter sunday we all set off for a trip to the cutta cutta caves (experienced a very interesting tour guide!!) which were deep under ground and as they were tropical caves were absolutly boiling and extremely humid. there were tons of bats and ghost bats (i got really excited thinking that there were ghosts and bats but no its just a white bat!) so quite creepy.
Also went to church which is very impressive as that means iv been twice since arriving in oz. Had better go as im very hungry... fraid no exciting antics of sky diving anf dressing up as a pelican crossing from moi!
lots of love
