Udaipur, India
We have arrived!...our world travel has begun, and it brings us to the bustling city of Delhi we have been here for just 2 days an already have had quite a adventure. Our arrival gave us quite a scare for starters, partly infact mostly because the immagration officer refused us entry and seemed pretty keen on the idea that we were to be deported! Not the best way to start off, so naturally in these situattion you sneak off and try the other queue being extra nice to the officer and finaly we were allowed in....
we got our bags and headed for Paharganj by taxi that distictly smelt of cow s**t, which was quite funny. The taxi man was friendly (ish) until he told us the roads we closed and that he should take us to the tourist office, but we made it clear that we didnt want to go there so we got dumped in god knows where, we then got some really decent instructions from a local who told us it would be best to take the metro, then we found our destination. We had a few hours sleep at our hotel, before heading out on the streets oh Delhi! We wanteds to get a feel for the place and the people nearly all of whom are the friendliest people, everyone is keen to talk and sell, but you do meet some realy genuine local aswell, We actualy wanted to blog this yesterday but whist in the internet cafe there was a power cut just as we were about to update everyone, it gradual then became harder and harder to breath, with thick black smoke filling the room, they was lots of hustle and bustle and before we knew it orange flames filled the room, we made a sharp exit!
Next we met a friendly local who showed us the busy markets and took us to a temple, where we sat in the garden and watched the holy ritual, ten our new friend offerd to cook food for us at his house, but our hotel colesd early so we didnt have time, so we jumped in a rickshaw and headed to a nearby diner and had a feast for a pound! Our fist taste of India.
Today we were picked up by our two new friends raj and sams we rode on a moterbike and a helecopter! (rickshaw) through the crazy traffic, to a small bar to have some Indian tea in some intrestingly cleaned mugs, its all part of the experience. we then caught another rickshaw back to out hotel in main bazaar, where we packed our stuff and upgraded from the strangely scented room and the mould coloured bathroom that we found funny for the fist night.....and that night only! but to be fair we have been told that we are staying in the ghetto.
Once we dropped our stuff off inour new room we headed off to see some sights, the India gate and lodi garden which was amazing and very tranquill. after a wonder in the park we headed for some food and then went to an internet cafe to cathch up with friends and blog to you guys and just met some fellow travellers form Australlia and arranged to go for a drink later at gem bar.
