Friday 9th Sept. Started the day by watching the ABs beat Tonga. Looked like the opening night was bigger brighter and better than anyone anticipated judging by the comments from Joel & Ian who were at the viaduct - and the articles on the internet.
We trained to Pudding Hill Lane to view the construction of the facilites for the 2012 Olympics - very impressive with the 60,000 plus main stadium looking from the outside pretty well completed.
Caught the Docklands Light Rail driverless train to Canary Wharf where we visited the Greenwhich Centre - saw the Cutty Sark being restored from the fire that nearly destroyed it in 2007. Learned about the history of Greewhich and then had lunch in the Meantime Cafe/Micro brewery (what else) accompaniedby a locally brewed beer.
Caught a boat from the dock at Greenwhich that took us to Westminster near the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. We lucked the right boat as the deckie had a tourist sideline business going giving an entertaining and informative commentary which we paid donations for at the end of the trip. I guess between him and skipper they collected at least 50 quid and the trip runs every 30 minutes all day long! The guy was definitely born within the sound of Bow Bells so had the right accent to tell some gruesome stories about Execution Dock, the orinigal Clink St prison etc. He pointed out the Wharf the orginal Mayflower set sail from, the replica of the Golden Hind and Globe theatre, the National Theatre which he claims Prince Charles (England's foremost expert in ugly things) has ranked as the ugliest buiding in the UK.
Back to Tottenham via a half hour walk through the main Seven Sisters shopping precinct as I wanted to get some photos printed off. This is a really interesting area and apart from the temperature we could have been in Jamaica. The English language was a rarity, the colour was predominately black and the shops were really interesting. Fresh fish & meat shops with little health regs being applied, copious fresh fruit shops, a smattering of Rastas and the smell of weed lingering in the air (This could have been my imagination due to being being caught up in the atmosphere)
Back to Craig's for a home cooked meal which was like a restaurant prepared dinner as Craig and Ivan practised for Master Chef Tottenham! Pleasant temperatue so al fresco dinning in their small garden. Suzane(Ivan's sister) joined us for dinner so more wine (Spanish this time was overconsumed)
Tomorrow Croatia.

Jane Its weird to see all the same photos that we were taking just a few weeks ago. I am still following Jan & Kev's blog, so easy just to slip into your blog too. Keep it up.
Bros Takes us back to 2006, Canary wharf, Greenwich and the ferry ride, I think we had the same bloke. Bros
