Left Chiang Mai at 08.30 in a very comfy mini-van where I had the entire back seats to myself, I tried watching a dvd but the driver was booting the crap out of the engine so I couldn’t hear the top quality sound of Thailand’s authentic dvds.
We stopped at a place on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere called ‘Cabbages & Condoms’. I was feeling terrible with my ‘Man Flu’ so I opted for just fruit juices and herbal teas.
Back on the road Graeme joined me on the back seat, not sure if he was sick of his girlfriend Sarah or he just wanted to sit with me? Either way I wasn’t happy as now I had to sit up for the rest of journey, however I did manage to sleep sat up.
Another fricking stop for the toilet, we had only been driving just over an hour. This time we stopped around 13km from Chiang Rai, I was happy to stop here though because there was a wonderful silvery white Temple and also a crazy little lizard on the tree which was a feisty little thing!
Last leg of the journey now, thank heavens! After another two hours on that crazy bus we finally arrived at Chiang Khong. The Guest house was lovely and so was the surrounding area but I was just too rough to go out and enjoy it so I went for a sleep in my room under the fan.
Around 16.00 I could hear the others on the Veranda drinking and messing around so I went out to join them. Never a good idea to be with people who are drunk when you are sober especially if you’re feeling rough already! With this in mind I grabbed my PSP and sat in the corner out of the way until 19.00 when we went for tea.
The meal was very nice, well it looked nice and plentiful my only problem was being blessed with this cold meant I couldn’t taste anything!
I watched dome of the English premiership football before retiring to bed to get plenty of rest.
