Once in Antigua we had a chill out day as we had seen most of the city and i was not feeling the best after a very cold and bad Spagetti lunch and San Juan! So that was a non entity of a day and so was the following as we travelling up to Semuc Champey which is a 8 hr trip further north in Guatemala.
So finally after a couple of days of travelling we got some action! We headed out of the town Lanquin, where we were staying in a great and friendly hostel called El Retiro (in a loft above some dormrooms, quite cool). We started by having a go on a swing, which led to jumping into a cold river and then going into some batcaves. We were each given Candles and we had to wade through the water in caves where the water came up to our necks at points. There was quite a bit of climing up ladders and squeezing through tight gaps, and walking behind a waterfall inside the cave, followed by a jump into a plunge pool. We spent about an hour and a half in the caves and then it was on to the Bridge jump!
It was about a 9m Jump into the water, which was surpisingly high and when i jumped in i didn't point my toes so i ended up having quite sore feet for a few minutes with the force of hitting the water. Unfortunately, Becky decided to act as Camera - man and chickened out of the jump! Shocking.
After this was a trip to the pools of Semuc Champey. There is a huge river running under the pools and then about ten or so pools above the river, where we spent an hour and a half swimming and relaxing and taking some cool photos! It was one of the best tours i have done and Becky and I´s best day of the trip so far!
