We left Banos to head to Riobamba - a town only a couple of hours away from Banos.. The main reason we wanted to go there, was to do the famous Devils Nose Train Ride - supposedly one of the most spectacular train rides in the Andes. So off we went to Riobamba and spent the day having a wander around the city.
The following morning, it was a 5.30 start as we made our way to the station to do our Devils Nose train ride. But when we got there we found out there had been a landslide and the train was not running....HOW ANNOYING!!! It was such a beautiful day too, it would have been perfect! Just our luck.....
So instead, we got the bus to Cuenca, a very nice colonial city, one of the most attractive in all of Ecuador. Our hotel is slightly strange. Its a big old building with very creaky floorboards and extremely creaky beds. Mike is convinced he will see a ghost lol! We are off this afternoon to hopefully check out a micro-brewery that has only opened in 2008....lets hope the beer is decent!!!
