We had a really good couple of days exploring Hopkins, although our luck did seem to turn against us again...
We finished Mikes birthday off by getting a cool cabana with a hammock and going for an Indian (which Mike found too spicy), in the evening. The following day we planned a bike tour along the river marine reserve in the hope of seeing some crocs and manattes! The bikes we hired were not the best - no gears and to stop the bike, you had to peddle backwards. Plus the seats were not the most comfortable either....
We got to the marina and rode along the bumpy gravel paths to the riverside where we waited for the crocodiles. Guess what..we saw nothing!! Although we did see a very big splash in the water - way too big to be a fish....so who knows what it was!! Today was probably one of the hottest days and the sun was sooo strong, so after a 3 hour round trip along the river, we were back at the marina.
This is were it went a bit wrong... we had a nice break to watch out for some crocs and then got on our way. Mike´s chain started to come off, and this was happening more frequently which was slowing our progress down and then it snapped completely! We were still a two hour walk from home, so we had to walk the whole way back to the hostel in 37 degrees! By the time we reached the hostel, Mike´s face was a picture, with rosy cheeks and a slighty annoyed look! lol
Once we were home we cooled off in the sea and had a well earned relax in our Hammock.
