Here Alyssa and I are, at the Vancouver international airport with her dad, step mom, grandpa and grandma. Along with my mother, father, sister and brother In law. All having our last meal together at a Resteraunt in the airport. Alyssa and I, are both anxiously waiting to go through security. So we can finally depart on our adventure together to the land of, horrible drivers, Cheap knock offs, food you don't want to know what you are eating, and lady boys for less than a dollar. Sounds like a typical weekend in Vancouver!
With the whole family on edge of bursting Into tears, especially my mother who demanded I spend the whole drive to the airport cuddling her. "her baby boy, is leaving her for a year or more after all "
We say our emotional goodbyes. Alyssa's family won't see her for 3 months, her first real back packing trip abroad. And I'm no stranger to backpacking, for a few months at a time. But not for a full year.
Finally we get through security. And board our 747-400 long haul. To hong Kong. The plane is 3/4 full Alyssa and I have a row of three to ourselves. A guy across the way and I are giving each other the eye. Both of us ready to jump an battle to our deaths for the empty row of 4 between us. A very annoying, little kid is signing and talking very loud, in an almost banshee style of voice.
I wonder what id have to do to let the stewardess slip some Ativan into his drink...
