2010! A new year, and a whole lot to look forward to for many people, including us. The current plan at time of writing will see us reluctantly leave our current jobs in March / April, leaving for Kenya in mid-April to allow Becky to take her official physio exams in Kenya. Once the exam is completed, we'll then head to our base with IcFEm in Kimilili, Western Kenya where we will be working for 2010 and much of 2011.

As just said we are going to Icfem Mission, a Kenyan-run mission in rural western Kenya. For more information see www.icfem-mission.org

Becky will be working as a physio to develop a teaching programme for rural health workers and also working at Dreamlands health centre.

Mike will be using his project management skills in the development team and also helping with the emerging sports ministries.

We certainly feel that there's a lot to prepare and organise, not least ensure that our house can be rented out. Since it feels like we've only just moved in, it's going to be a strange feeling to pack everything up again, but we're certainly committed to this trip and feel it's the right time, and the right place to be going.

The biggest regret about going is leaving behind so many fantastic friends and our families, but as with all fun things we half expect that the time will fly by, and visitors are very welcome - whether for a rest or to dip your own toes into volunteer work abroad. Fundraising is well underway and we've been so fortunate already with early donations. We are very thankful to the friends, family members and charitable trusts that have donated money so far. We need to raise £12,500 + £8k -£10k for a 4 wheel drive car which we would like to donate to the mission when we leave.
