Well; we are now back in good old Kimilili! 5 weeks in the UK has flown by. We have driven over 2,500 miles (thanks to Becky's brother Matt's Mini), delivered 20 talks, done an interview on local radio and eaten a lot of English food! Thank you so much to everyone who made time to see us and for those we missed we are sorry!
We have sent out various newsletters over the last few months but realised our blog is missing updates, so please see the photos albums for a slightly more visual insight!
This morning we enjoyed the slip and slide to up our road to church, very nearly landing our Landrover and the guests we have in a ditch! With guests and Landover still (just) in one piece, we drove past 3 cows, a donkey, wooden fronted shops, women carrying babies on their back and kids fetching water shouting "how are you?" at us as we past. A quick reminder of how different Kimilili is from Southampton, the M25 or most of the UK!!!
Work wise Mike is back into the office at HQ. His water projects are progressing well, with many people being provided with clean water and safe drinking water. He is also busy with the new chicken project allowing communities to work together to get a better price for their chickens, and other projects ideas are developing behind the scenes...!
DMCC is progressing well and Becky has hit the ground running. The aim of meeting the deadline of getting dentistry, eyes and x-ray all up and running by the end of 2012 has meant a busy few days. She is also working with the team to finish upgrading DMCC from a health centre to a hospital. It's great to see the work progressing.
Thanks again to everyone who gave a bed, meals and made time to catch up with us. We had a fab (if somewhat busy) time.
God Bless
Becky and Mike
