Hello
Well, it's been a few weeks since we last wrote during which we had been to several more islands.
After our visit to Koh Lanta we left for Koh Phi Phi, it was a beautiful island with fantastic sunsets, however, we found the food and accomodation very expensive, so we moved from the main town to a smaller bay called Long Beach. First we went snorkelling in the water off Maya Bay on Koh Phi Phi Lee which was where "The Beach" was filmed.
The next day we did a 'Try Scuba Diving' day where we had a 20 minute lesson in the water just off the beach before going out on the boat to do 2 dives of 12m and 15m respectively. It was absolutely amazing - we swam along a coral reef seeing clownfish (Nemos!), lionfish, triggerfish, boxfish and many other brightly coloured creatures. Liza even saw a 6 foot black tip reef shark which I was gutted to have missed.
We then went to Kho Phangnan for a couple of days and went to the half moon party in the jungle which was great fun. We were on such a high after the day scuba diving in Kho Phi Phi that when we arrived in Kho Tao after Kho Phangnan we immediately signed ourselves up for a 4 day PADI open water scuba course. The water around Kho Tao is supposed to be a lot clearer and better for diving than Koh Phi Phi so we are hopeful of seeing some sharks and turtles. Now that Liza has seen a big shark there is no way Im leaving til I have seen one too!
Other than our exploits in the water I have been dragging Liza to various sports pubs for football, rugby and cricket only to be constantly disappointed by England losing in the 6 Nations and the cricket, and Spurs losing to United in the Carling Cup. Oh well my luck must change - tonight its Spurs v Sunderland but I haven't told Liza yet. Will probably tell her there is a great cocktail place I have seen with Mai Tais for just 40 baht then push her in and buy a drink before she realises whats happening!
We are in Thailand for only 3 more days - it has gone far too quickly and we have done so much that we havent spent that much time just relaxing on the beach. So next time we post we will probably be in Sydney and hopefully will be qualified open water divers. Spurs will also have jumped to 10th in the table and the entire Welsh rugby team will have gone down with a bad case of the s***s! Here's hoping
Love to all - keep us updated on news from home xx
