Bec & Bec's Adventures !!!
Hi all... Please note that I named this entry after 'Adventure Tours' because Hungary certainly was an adventure ... a good one in the end ...
So we started with the departure from Dubrovnik - I have to say a highlight for both us, we fell in love with that city and had to tear ourselves away ... bloody Hungary :)
So we hopped on yet another plane... this one bound for Budapest, we didnt have too many preconceived ideas or opinions on Budapest so each of us went in with a very open mind... only to be sort of overwhelmed by this city ... and im not sure yet if it was a good one ! We arrived at about 10 in the evening, and hopped in a taxi (dont call them cabs over here... (naughty naughty) and arrived at our hostel, about 20 minutes and 4000 HUFS later, HUFS are the currency - funny huh ! the hostel was ... what can i say, an absolute disgrace, well maybe im overreacting, though all three of us did not shower for the first fay and a half due to the site of the bathroom... I wore thongs when i finally did, and if i have a wetsuit handy I would have donned that for the occassion, as i felt more dirty after the shower than i did before hehe :(
we walked into our room, to find 2 girls already sleeping in their bed, which was ok, but we had to fumble around in the dark and silently look for the pj's, once we did this we jumped into bed for one of the worst sleeps ever... wont even go into it, as it sounds as if im complainnig, but im not i swear !!!
woke up bright and early, as u do in hostels and dcided that we would chill out and discover the sites in our own time. After working out the transport situation of buses, trams and trains we navigated our way over the infamous bridge (Carls u would have loved this city for the design) for a spot of shopping and some crepes... delish. the day was boiling so we headed to the popular hungarian baths where we cooled off in the outdoor baths, then did a few laps in the whirl pool and then had a soak in the indoor baths which were about 36 degrees! after we decided to treat ourselves with aftersoon tea of cakes and iced coffee..dlish. we arrived back from the day of siteseeing and dinner.
As we walked into the hostel and were greeted by a few irish guys and an aussie, they invited us for a drink at the pub which we graciously accepted... this in turn ended up about 40 drinks later, sitting on a statue at 6am the next morning, drinking becks while the homeless arose around us as the sun had appeared !!! Absolutely fab night. The guys we met were Russell (Russ), Paul (Pauli), Damien (Damo) and Cameron (Cam)... me being aussie, after the first drink, had a nick name for each of them... which they just didnt understand leading to a discussion about why we have to call bottle shops 'BOTTLEo's ... why do we ?
anyways hopefully catch up with the aussies in Santorini in a few days...
missing u all a lot... until next time ...
Middy xo
