I set off alone to the bus station to catch the next bus to Santa Marta about 1pm, I was egger to get to the Caribbean coast but also to see two people that I hoped to call "friends" the remainder of my existence. The bus was a 15hour journey but by now I knew this ment 20 hours at least. It was a simple journey heading north through some the most amazing scenes I've witnessed. Fields and fields of bananas, the main entrances guarded with army like chaps with guns big enough to bring down a small plane. These where possibly cocaine factories with bananas all around the outskirts. The towns we passed looked lively, run down and full of excitement...
I eventually arrived in Santa Marta at 11am meaning the bus was 20hours dead on. I jumped in a taxi and headed to the dreamer hostel where Daz and Jemma where. When I arrived they where in one the places they spent most there time in La Paz, not the bar but there beds. ;-)
It was good to see them and catch up on adventures, stories and jokes.. Was good being in English company again.. We spent the next few days eating like kings, on the beach, drinking $2 rum at the pool or just chilling in hostel. We eat all the fruits of the caribbean and I have to admit lulo was my favourite by far. Was a good place to catch up, the beaches here where amazing and the jungle leading to them just as amazing.. There was a few of us here and rupert had caught up, stash, and a new member travis from the states..
The company was good but once Jemma and Daz headed to the airport to part for other climates I again felt alone. I waited for travis and rupert to come back from a camping/jungle/beach adventure and became friendly with a couple lads from Britain who I went out with one night and a couple from south east London, Jack and Lauren where good company. On the night out we was in a club on a rooftop when a local with a machete came in swinging it about as if it was a skipping rope. I calmly walked over to where he was and said to one the lads Ben, watch your back there's a guy with a machete behind you. He just laughed then realised everyone but him and a chick where all on the opposite side to the machete carrying nut. Security did a good job keeping him away until The police turned up and put a shotgun in his face and we all carried on with our night. Over the next few days we all arranged to head to palamino for a few days in jungle/beach. We stayed in hammocks, played frisbee, and sat in tubes through a river in the jungle. Was a great adventure seeing different spiders, snakes and birds, although I did lose my ray bans in the river.
We headed back to dreamer hostel after a few days and I was covered in mosquito bites and it was effecting the trip. I had, had a load but by now was sick to my stomach of it.! We all said our goodbyes and after just one night myself, rupert and travis headed to the hottest city I think I've been in Cartagena but all that can wait for the next instalment: Cartagena ladies of the night, A/C, and cafe del mar..
Peace out much love Micky xxx
