Apparently when Captain Turnbull makes his announcements, you know whether it's good news or bad news by the way he starts. If he says 'This is the captayn ...' then it's good news, if he says 'This is the captin ...' then it's bad news. Today was a captayn day! And he got to say 'Good morning Vietnam' too!
Weather was 26 degrees at 8.00, it reached 34 in the afternoon. Because Barbara was confined to barracks, Linda, Rob and I went on the tour together. When we reached the theatre, our party had left for the shore (it's a tender port), and by the time we reached land the bus had left without us. We were put on another bus and driven about 100 yards to the Oceanographic Institute. There we saw various marine life including 2 seals with barely enough water to get wet.
Then it was off to a local market, where Rob and I had a beer and Linda a coke. The lanes were extremely narrow, but people on mopeds kept driving through. After that we stopped for a look at a Catholic church and on to see the Buddha at Long Son Pagoda. We then drove to the Hindu elephant temple Po Nagar Cham, before visiting a silk embroidery workshop and sales room. I bought a silk picture and it was only $5 more for the frame.
We then tendered back to the ship and had afternoon tea in the Medina restaurant. Won my 7th gold sticker in the Individual Quiz, won the cocktail of the day in the Picture Quiz, won a bottle if wine in the the Masquerade Challenge and lost the tie break in the Syndicate Quiz, despite starting with -1!
