It was a cool start to the day, 15 at 7:30, but it warmed up a bit later, still quite a cool breeze though. We entered the canal slightly early, around 6:15, but I didn't get for about another 90 minutes. We're in a convoy of 22 ships heading north and we're the lead ship.
Most of the time the scenery is just desert, but occasional small towns appear on the banks. We did pass one extremely large town on the east bank, which may have been Ismailia. Just before we passed it, on a slight rise, was a memorial to soldiers killed in the First World War.
We left the Suez Canal about 15:30. There's been a horrible smell coming from the funnel for a few days now, which we assumed was the result of the incinerator burning rubbish and the fact that we've not been moving too fast. It was still there when we had increased speed after we hit the Mediterranean. I hope it goes away soon, it's really awful.
The clocks go FORWARD tomorrow. We'll be 3 hours ahead of GMT.

Jan If you thing 15 is cool, we would die for that temperature!! It's just started to warm up and get into double figures. The daffodils have just started to come out, so a VERY late spring. Glad you are still having fun. I love reading your blogs, by the way.
