The weather started off cool at 18 but warmed up as the day progressed. This is really the port for Cairo. As I've already seen the pyramids and Cairo, I decided not to go on a trip there. According to most reports, there is nothing in Sokhna. Rob, Linda, Barbara and I decided to see what was on offer. We took the shuttle to the port gates and on the other side there a lot of taxis touting for business.
We discussed the options and decided that rather than going to a beach, we would go into Suez. So we bargained a price and went. It was about 35 kilometres along a dirty, dusty, potholed road. Suez is a busy industrial city. We went to the Canal, unfortunately there were no ships transiting at the time. After that, we passed a church and a mosque, went through the town, which was filthy but lively, to a coffee shop. After a cappuccino each, we went back to the ship.
Back on board, after lunch in Cafe Bordeaux, we went up to the top deck and showed Linda how to play deck quoits.
