Now everybody, gather round and take a seat, preferably on a toilet as you may actually wet yourself when I tell you what I did today!! Be prepared to be bedazzled!!! Ok, so it could also just be me that is so excited by this! Today I checked off something that has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember....I swam with the whale sharks!! I swear I nearly wet myself everytime I jumped in the water and watched these majestic beautiful creatures glide on by!! On my goodness, they are so big, yet so gentle!! My next question is can I get one as a pet???
So we were picked up at our hotel and driven to the docks, where a million other people also had the same dream as me! We met our amazing guide Logan, who got us sorted and onto our boat! It was my tour group which is 5 of us, and an American family of 4 (they were great to spend the day with).
The boat ride was close to an hour.... And then out of no where, a whale shark appeared!! It was like battle stations... Logan was telling the first group of 2 to get ready (2 of the American boys went first), then Logan told Richelle and I to get ready!! It was a mad rush, wetsuit on, sunglasses off, flippers on, mask on, snorkel on jump! Wow is the only word I can use to describe the amazingness of this situation!! First time round I didn't take my underwater camera, the first dive was just for me to enjoy!! And I did!!!
Although as I was swimming back to the boat, I realised I had my first victim... I may have forgotten to take off my non-waterproof watch!! Hahahaha, needless to say I didn't know what time it was for the rest of the day!!
So we ended up having quite a few dives to spend time with the whale sharks!! I managed to get some amazing under water shots but you'll have to wait until I get back to oz before you see those!!
Eventually our time with the whale sharks came to an end! We bid them a fond farewell!!! We then made our way to a beautiful little Island off the coast of Cancun, were we anchored the boat and jumped into some beautiful crystal blue water for a swim!! It was fairly shallow, which came in handy when we ate our ceviche and guacamole in the water and drank our beers!! Yep, pure heaven!!
We made it back to Cancun, where Richelle and I jumped straight into the pool and spent a few hours there lazing around drinking sangrias!! Mmmmm sangrias!!!
This evening we met another 5 tour group members!! All of which seem very cool!! 2 girls from Ireland and a brother, sister and friend from San Francisco!!
I honestly can say that today has been one of the best days of my life!!!
