Hey y'all! I could get used to this jet-setting lifestyle! We flew out from Boston this morning after Martin somehow managed to drag me out of bed at 7am. I was a bit half-dead at first but a cold shower (I didn't choose for it to be cold) soon sorted me out. I'm writing this from a library in Buffalo where the internet is FREE...so prepare for an epic instalment. (I know I'm tight, but sometimes you've just gotta be!) The flight over here was fine, only took an hour and a half to travel 400 miles instead of 14 hours on the bus. Bit windy though and we were in a tiny plane that didn't seem big enough to take off, so the old palms were a bit sweaty at times! Managed to keep calm though. Just checked in at the hostel in Buffalo, which is the nicest we've been to so far. Pretty spacious and the staff are dead helpful. We're in a room with Aussies - they're bloody everywhere! It's not easy resisting talking to them about Neighbours. The town itself seems pretty nice too. Bigger than I'd expected - they've even got skyscrapers here! Gonna grab some Buffalo wings soon from the place they were invented, and maybe sample some of the local bars and some live music. (We're trying to stick to our cash budget but it's virtually impossible when you're meeting so many people all the time! It'd be rude not to go out for a quick bevvie!) We're only really here in Buffalo for Niagara Falls, which we're doing tomorrow and I can't wait to see. Think it's about half and hour away. Also, we're not far from Lake Eerie so wouldn't mind seeing that. It's amazing how much we've done in a week, you've got to pinch yourself sometimes! We're in good spirits, but it was a bit sad leaving Boston cos we loved it so much. (If someone can find me a job/wife there, I'd be grateful!) Couldn't really say much yesterday cos he was standing near me while I was writing the blog, but the Boston hostel owner George, was gay and he cracked us up. He kept poking his head into the shower block when we were in there, and making inappropriate comments about our asses. We've been invited to his gay wedding, and he wants us to jump out of the cake! (Don't panic mum, it was all in jest and he was a really nice guy!) Had a bit of a cash-flow problem in Boston when my bank blocked my account, so Martin had to fund my drinking habit for a couple of days, but it's all sorted now. Phew! My God I was happy to get some dollars in my hand. Well hello, Mr Lincoln! I'm trying to get into baseball cos it's on TV constantly over here. I know all about the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry and I almost understand the rules. Seems like a very dull game to me, though. People know a tiny bit about 'soccer' - they all know David Beckham but names like Fabio Aurelio, Peter Crouch and Jamie Carragher seem to fall on deaf ears. Funny, that. One girl did say to me though: 'I, like, totally love Wayne Rooney. That Shrek dude is just, like, totally awesome!' Each to their own. Think I'm gonna struggle to catch the Liverpool-Chelsea game on Wed cos we're flying to Washington DC on that day, but fingers crossed I'll make it to a sports bar in time. If not, come on the boys! I'll stop boring you all soon but I've just gotta say how nice the Americans are. I can't get over it. They're all so kind and generous and intelligent. The opposite of all of the misconceptions back home! Right, that's nearly enough typing for one day - Buffalo awaits. Oh dear - our good luck with the weather seems to have run out. Just looked out the window and it's pouring down. Will do an update tomorrow complete with Niagara Falls pics. PS everyone seems astounded that I can actually write a blog! Anyone would think I was some kind of technophobe Luddite. Unbelievable! I must admit that Martin still has to help me loading up the pics, like a patient teacher helping a special needs child in class. Apart from that - all my own work! Farewell until tomorrow, missing you all. xxx Have a nice day and keep the messages coming!
