Today we drove from Jerez to Ronda.
A beautiful drive through mountains, lime green fields and olive trees everywhere in dry arid soil. Fantastic roads here compared to Italy, a lovely country drive on wide relatively new roads.
In Ronda we stayed at the Parador in the old city centre. First up we had lunch at a beautiful restaurant in the sun, tomato salad with tuna and anchovies. This is a hill town so we walk the old city walls at the old town limits, visiting museums and the art gallery of ' Joaquin Peinado', a contemporary of Picasso in the Paris Cubist movement.
Gin and tonica in the late afternoon sun, but as the sun goes down it gets very cold as we are in the mountains. Dinner at the hotel (unusual for us). However, dinner is delicious. JB oxtail stew with veggies and Mick slow roasted lamb shoulder. Mick finishes with olive oil ice-cream (yes you read it correctly), delicious! Who would have thunk? Finished with firewater digestive. Off to bed for an early start to Grenada, via the southern coastal Mediterranean route, Marbella and Malaga.
