I met Mike Parr to see his Retrospective Show at the Kunsthalle.
The show which is vey impressive features prints, video, sculpture. Mike explained during the 2 hours I was with him that the show represents his art practice over some 30 years.
At the Kunsthalle there are quite a number of other museums, one being The Leopold, which has a great show of the work of Austrian artists, Egon Scheile, from the early part of last century.
Another show there, which had an enormous amount of visitors was on male nudism.
Vienna has a very strong art culture. There are many galleries and museums.
I visited Secession and Belvedere, to see Gustav Klint's work, which was celebrating his 150th birthday.
The contemporary art museum 21er HAUS is a great example of a stand alone contemporary museum.
That night I joined my Harvard friend, Al Czipin at the Vienna Antique & Art Show in the Royal Palace.
It was crowded with lots of very well dressed Viennese sipping champagne.
The next morning I am back to Bilbao, Spain to meet Ged Hart with whom we will drive to Gibralter to meet Black Pearl and then on to the Canary Islands.
