Budapest Airport, well its like all others really, planes, lots of people, coffee shops that charge small fortunes for a banana. Its quite a way from the city centre, I'd say a Central London-Heathrow type of journey and we were taken by our guide. Am sure its easily accessible via public transport, everything else in Budapest is to be honest.
As for Duty Free, we actually stopped first at a nearby Tesco Hypermarket to stock up on local produce to take home, that was a good move as a lot of stuff is much much cheaper than in the airport. If you've dipped out and forgot your fridge magnet and said "its ok I'll get some from the airport" then expect to pay over the odds in a big way.
Duty Free itself is ok, the airport itself is ok and we had no problems. Others on our flight back did though with one passengers hand luggage deemed too big and so he had to pay extra - he wasn't happy at all !
Flight takes off no problem and we're on our way home. We have 3 lady stewardesses and 1 chap, so I'm much happier the balance has been brought slightly back into line (the 3 are all trollops) and there are no stag or hen party's on there way back from Budapest. A not too unpleasant flight back then really.
