The jury is still out on Prague, that's not to say it don't like it here because I do. It's a nice place, just I was expecting it to be nicer if that makes sense.
My hotel is awful - no wait, my hotel WAS awful, I moved out pretty much not long after I had moved in, a grim place in the Dejvicka area of the city - imagine a communist 1970's hotel block, my hotel is not too far from this and I vow (once more) NEVER to do these budget type places without proper research. Note to self: you said that about Amsterdam last year.
Anyway, it's goodby Dejvicka and hello Hotel Ambassador - oh yeh ! A third of the Prague budget in one hit - it's a good hit and I know I have a shower that works, hot running water, towels and BBC World Service news channel tonight. Little things eh.
So Prague then, yeh it's ok but that's about it so far, it's ok and I wanted it to be more than that. I have a Chopin Recital tonight so things might suddenly turn into wowsville - I am happy to be only forking out 500 Krn (about £15) for the performance - let's face it, it could be anything from a school choir to some buskers to the full state operatic society of the Czech Republic. There is no dress code so I turn up in jeans and away we go, could be just me, could be hundreds, it's how I roll the dice these days.
Prague from what I see is like London just not as good but I'm easily pleased so let's see what tonight brings.
Signing off for now - oh there is an Irish Pub just off Wenceslas Square where the do a lovely Guiness, look out for the guy dressed as a leprechaun and whose English is limited to "one hundred yards on der right hand side of this road unt you have a free drink if you buy a main meal." Cheers Paddy !
