I've taken the train from Prague to Vienna - it's almost a 5 hour journey but it doesn't feel like it. The rolling countryside landscapes are lovely and The Czech Republic is alright as a place - it's only fault to me being it didn't make me WANT to go back any time soon. Maybe it's me.
There is an enormous difference as the train rolls through the Austrian countryside though. The Austrian farmers all use modern JCB's and modern plant machinery as opposed to the Czech's more traditional and much much older stuff. And that's the major difference as a whole really - Austria is wonderfully modern, clean and from what I can gather, efficient. I've only been here a few hours and although it's only a couple hundred miles from Prague, from I've seen so far, it may as well be another planet.
Vienna is, in my early opinion, just lovely, early doors, it ticks every box I need ticked and I get the feeling I'll like it here. No junk food places on view which is good, public transport, that's both the metro and tram, is so so clean - whatever they are doing here in public transport circles, they are doing it brilliantly well.
My hotel I'll comment on later, it's only 10 mins from Central Vienna, but I arrived just on 8:15pm, a little shower of rain had just started and I'm only 100 yards from a nice little noodle and sushi bar. All into the mix, made sense to stay close to hotel for dinner tonight. Hotel is nice though :-) back soon.
