MeznG. In the air, on the road, river or sea again
Today is all about travel. Getting from one city to the other. After breakfast we went to go outside but it's really raining heavily so that's a no go. Our guide arrives to take us to the airport for our flight to Tunxi. This airport is closer than Pudong but there is still a fair bit of traffic and the weaving in and out is like a slow dance. Our guide gets us to the check in counter and that's his job done. We have a couple of hours to wait for the flight but we get away on time and it's only 45 minutes later that we arrive in Tunxi. We are met by our guide whose name is Ada. She's a young girl originally from Northern China. Her English is pretty good and she is lovely. The drive to this hotel is pretty easy. The city's population is less than 2 million people so it's small in comparison to Shanghai. Our hotel is very nice the Huangshan international hotel, it's on the Xin’an River. It's about 4.30pm when we arrive and there is a wedding reception at the hotel, so it's decorated in pinks and purples. Ada gets us checked in and then leaves us. She will return at 6pm and we will go for dinner. The room is quite spacious and nice. We have a bath tub which us always a bonus for us. Twin beds as well, so that's a novelty! Tomorrow, to go to the mountain, we can only take a back pack so we get that organised before going to dinner at a restaurant near by. We have a separate area just for the two of us and have small Chinese banquet of duck, vegetables, rice, soup and fruit. We share a beer and finish with green tea. Once we are finished Ada came back and sat with us to talk a bit about some Chinese legends and stories. She also gives us a bit of a language lesson. We will meet Ada again in the morning at 9 am to head off on our journey. It's Saturday tomorrow so it will most probably be very busy in the mountains but we do get to stay up there overnight so hopefully we will get a chance to enjoy a sunset and/or sunrise. For those that have been following on Facebook, I will drop off the radar for a bit because Facebook is apparently blocked in China so I can't get onto the site. How about that! Good luck to all our North Gambier teams in the grand final tomorrow. We will be cheering you on from China. Go Tigers!
