Today I started by contacting hertz. They told me to just bring the car in and they fixed it in just a couple minutes (using zip ties!) Next I went to Blarney castle to kiss the Blarney stone. It was really beautiful there and the grounds were lovely as well. My next mission was to go to Charles fort and Dunboy castle before heading to Killarney. I started south to Cork and, following the signs, thought I was traveling towards Charles fort. I ended up in Rathcormack which is north of Cork! I decided after I kept getting trapt in Cork to just head to Killarney. Just over halfway there I found a sign to Dunboy castle so I decided to go for it. I was driving along for an hour without seeing anymore signs so, figuring I was on the wrong road, I turned around. Once again I saw a sign so I followed that lead...had I continued on this second road I have no doubt I would have found the castle but it was dusk already and I was running low on fuel. The road to Killarney was a treacherous one. Almost all of the small roads here are marked 100kph but the road was a series of one sharp turn after another, I wondered how anyone could even stay on the road at that pace! The directions to the hostel were coming from the east (unknown to me at the time) and I was coming from the south, needless to say I drove around lost for a while. Some of you may be shocked to hear that at that point I stopped and asked for help. The guy managing the hostel is really nice and gave me a booklet on the area with maps for tomorrow. I'm also super excited because this is the first stop since Manchester that I've been able to connect to wifi successfully! I hope none of you have been too worried about not hearing from me.
